Note: The appearance of three members of Richland's Class "AAA" State Football Championship team (Mark Bircher, John Wunderlich, and George Naughton) in the John Rogers and Shadle Park games was in violation of W.I.A.A. rules governing player eligibility. The rules state that ten days of practice are required in a particular sport before an athlete may participate in that sport. When seasons overlap; concessions are made. In the case of the Football State Finals; in which the Bombers participated/five of the ten required practice days are waived for athletes playing both sports. The same situation occurred in 1975 when the Bombers played in the State Football Championship game against Foss of Tacoma. The W.I.A.A. allowed the players, then, to join the Basketball Team immediately without any required practice sessions. Since then; player eligibility rules have been changed. Consequently; Richland foreited their two wins over John Rogers and Shadle Park High Schools.
